SECRET NERD BASE Hits Cleveland Comic Con! We ventured out to Cleveland, Ohio for a real-deal Comic Con — and it delivered! This event was packed with comics and creators. Legendary indie artist Gary Dumm (co-creator of the iconic American Splendor) was there, along with Shane Ronzio, celebrating the 54th issue of his Fugitive Faction series. The dealer room was loaded with treasures. Long boxes full of vintage comics were everywhere, and these weren’t just beat-up back issues — there were serious Silver and Golden Age prizes waiting to be found. I scored a rare copy of Chris Yambar’s Mr. Beat, spotted an Iron Man #1 sitting out in the open, and even came across some genuinely rare Lovecraft artifacts. The vendors were friendly, happy to wheel and deal, and open to high-quality trades. It was one of the most enjoyable and affordable Comic Cons we’ve been to in recent memory — perfect for the whole family and absolutely loaded with great finds. Highly recommended!
