Someone stuck this on a shelf in the restroom.
So we lost an hour on Sunday, but we gain a later sunset everyday from now to November. But, if I go to bed at say 10pm it's really 9pm, so I go to bed earlier, but I'm still awake and stay awake until 11pm, the real 10pm. Then if I set the alarm for 6am it's really 5am, So instead of 8hrs sleep I get 6hrs, that is if I fall asleep when my head hits the pillow, which it doesn't. I lost an hour, I'm losing sleep, I'm behind on my chores and my work, but I've gained a later sunset, a later sunset so I don't consume as much electricity in the evening, but now I'm staying awake later, using electricity, getting up earlier when it's darker now and using more electricity. What exactly am I saving? It's definitely not my energy or my sleep or my sanity or my money. How much daylight did we really save?
The Semiquincentennial is just around the corner. Where are our patriotic trains, decorations, merch, and mania?
