I bought one of these a few years ago. Tried to repair the locomotive. Got it clean but still doesn't run well. 50 year old plastic can get brittle. Even 25 year old plastic wears out, I tried to clean up a loco I got back around 2000 or so, just removing the shell and the wheels from the chassis plastic pieces broke and went flying. But that's part of the hobby is the challenge of figuring out how to disassemble, clean, lube, repair, put back together. It's like a puzzle. But these new-fangled trains these days, the motto is "NO DISASSEMBLE!"
