The brown orb weaver is an amazing spider. For the last couple weeks one has constructed every evening at dusk a web in the exact same spot, same height above the ground, using the same attachment points, stretching a cross thread 8-9ft across and 7-8ft above the ground, and deconstructs the whole thing by dawn only to do it all over again at dusk. I should get a tape measure out and record this and also mark to see if the attachment points are always the same. Somehow it manages to get from the evergreen bush to a low hanging tree branch.

Been seeing Halloween decorations up. It's called "Aug-tober" and it sounds stupid to me. So does "Spook-tember." No, no, no. Traditionally, the spooky season is firmly in October and really is at the latter half of October. It's bad enough we have some people living Christmas year round. OK, I better stop, I'll go ranting on tangents if I don't.
