Soldiers in formation will be brought to attention, faced toward the flag, or music, and place at parade rest.

On the first note of "To The Color," soldiers not in formation without command will render the salute and hold until the last note has sounded at which time they will return to position of attention and carry on. Soldiers in formation will be commanded to attention then commanded to present arms. Upon sounding of the last note, the formation leader commands order arms and carries on with business.
